Drake has submitted Her Loss, his collaborative album with 21 Savage, for consideration for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards, after withholding his previous two albums from consideration. The singles “Rich Flex” and “Spin Bout U” were also nominated for five awards: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Melodic Rap Performance. Drake has also submitted collaborations with Travis Scott (“Meltdown”) and Young Thug (“Oh U Want”).
It’s possible that people other than Drake and 21 Savage submitted Her Loss and its songs for Grammy consideration, as The Hollywood Reporter points out. Pitchfork has reached out to Drake, 21 Savage, and the Recording Academy for comment and additional information.
Drake has five Grammy Awards, but he has skipped the show in recent years and criticized the Recording Academy’s nomination process. He withdrew Certified Lover Boy from consideration after being nominated for two rap awards in 2021. He chose not to submit his album Honestly, Nevermind, or any of its singles the following year.
Drake recently released For All the Dogs, his eighth solo studio album. Earlier this summer, he published his first book of poetry and purchased a ring once owned by Tupac Shakur.
